This page is a summary of important rental terms and requirements.

The full Trailer Rental Agreement signed in person, accepted online, agreed to by checkbox, paid for, or accepted when taking possession of the trailer controls the rental.

If there is any difference between this website page and the signed or accepted Trailer Rental Agreement, the signed or accepted Trailer Rental Agreement controls.

1) Before Booking or Picking Up the Trailer:

Before booking or picking up the trailer, please review the rental terms and requirements below. These terms are intended to help customers understand their main responsibilities before renting.

All trailer rentals are subject to the full Trailer Rental Agreement signed in person, accepted online, agreed to by checkbox, paid for, or accepted when taking possession of the trailer. If there is any difference between this page and the signed or accepted Trailer Rental Agreement, the signed or accepted agreement controls.

3) Renter Responsibility:

The renter is responsible for the trailer from the time it is picked up until it is returned, inspected, and checked in by JH Trailer Rental.

The renter is responsible for safe towing, proper loading, cargo securement, legal use of the trailer, and returning the trailer on time and in the same condition received, except for ordinary wear.

4) Insurance Requirement:

Renters are required to carry their own insurance.

The renter's insurance is primary and must cover the tow vehicle, the rented trailer while in the renter's possession, all drivers, cargo, towing activity, third-party claims, property damage, liability, and the renter's intended use.

JH Trailer Rental does not provide liability insurance, collision coverage, comprehensive coverage, cargo coverage, personal injury coverage, property damage coverage, or any other insurance coverage for the renter's benefit.

Any insurance carried by JH Trailer Rental is for our own protection only and does not reduce or remove the renter's responsibility.

If the renter's insurance denies coverage, limits coverage, excludes coverage, delays payment, or pays less than the full amount owed, the renter remains personally responsible for the full balance.

5) Damage, Loss, Theft, and Repair Costs:

The renter is responsible for any and all damage to, loss of, or theft of the trailer during the rental period, regardless of fault or cause.

This includes damage caused by accidents, road conditions, weather, improper loading, improper towing, theft, vandalism, unsafe use, mechanical damage caused by use, or actions of any third party.

Renter responsibility may include repair costs, replacement costs, parts, labor, tire damage, wheel damage, axle damage, lights, wiring, ramps, jack, coupler, safety chains, fenders, frame, deck, paint, locks, straps, spare tire, winch, GPS or tracking device, accessories, towing, storage, recovery fees, administrative fees, diminished value, and loss of use.

Ordinary wear does not include tire damage, wheel damage, bent axles, broken lights, damaged wiring, missing parts, impact damage, overload damage, improper loading damage, jackknife damage, coupler damage, fender damage, deck damage, excessive dirt, debris, or damage caused by unsafe towing.

6) Payment Card Authorization:

A valid payment card may be required to book or rent the trailer.

By booking, signing, checking an agreement box, paying for the rental, or taking possession of the trailer, the renter authorizes JH Trailer Rental to keep the payment card on file through the payment processor or rental software and charge the card for amounts owed under the rental agreement.

Charges may include rental charges, payment holds, late fees, cleaning fees, tolls, citations, damage charges, repair estimates, final repair invoices, replacement costs, insurance deductibles, insurance shortfalls, loss of use, diminished value, towing, storage, recovery fees, administrative fees, collection costs, attorney fees, and any other charges arising from the rental.

7) Tow Vehicle and Equipment Requirements:

The renter is responsible for making sure their tow vehicle is properly rated and equipped for the trailer and the load being hauled.

Renters must have the correct hitch, 2 5/16 inch ball, round 7 pin plug, wiring, brake controller if required, mirrors, tires, and towing capacity.

The renter is responsible for properly connecting the trailer, securing the coupler, using safety chains, connecting lights and brakes if applicable, checking tires, balancing the load, and securing all cargo before and during towing.

8) Prohibited Uses:

The trailer may not be overloaded, used off-road, used unlawfully, used to transport hazardous or illegal materials, used to carry passengers, subleased, loaned, transferred to another person, towed by an unauthorized driver, or towed by an improperly rated or unsafe vehicle.

The renter may not remove or tamper with plates, locks, GPS or tracking devices, or equipment. The renter may not modify, paint, mark, or attach anything to the trailer without permission.

Any prohibited use is a violation of the rental agreement and does not reduce the renter's responsibility for damage, loss, theft, claims, or charges.

9) Return Requirements:

The trailer must be returned on time, to the agreed return location, and in the same condition received, except for ordinary wear.

The renter is responsible for removing all cargo, trash, debris, and personal property before return. JH Trailer Rental is not responsible for personal property left in or on the trailer.

If the trailer is returned after hours or without being checked in by JH Trailer Rental, the renter remains responsible for the trailer, including loss, theft, and damage, until it is inspected and checked in during the next business opening.

10) Late Return or Failure to Return:

Late returns may be charged at the applicable daily rental rate. Partial days may be charged as full days.

If the trailer is not returned when due, is abandoned, is used in violation of the rental agreement, is taken outside the agreed rental area without permission, or appears to be at risk of loss or damage, JH Trailer Rental may recover or repossess the trailer where permitted by law.

The renter is responsible for all recovery or repossession costs.

If the trailer is not returned when due and the renter fails to communicate or make acceptable arrangements, the trailer may be treated as wrongfully retained and may be reported as stolen.

11) Accidents, Damage, Theft, or Breakdown:

The renter must immediately notify JH Trailer Rental of any accident, damage, theft, vandalism, breakdown, tire issue, wheel issue, lighting issue, citation, impound, police contact, insurance claim, or other incident involving the trailer.

Police must be notified when required by law or when there is an accident, theft, vandalism, injury, or third-party property damage.

Repairs, replacement parts, towing, or service work may not be authorized without prior approval from JH Trailer Rental, except in an emergency where immediate action is necessary to prevent further damage or injury.

12) Tolls, Tickets, Fines, and Violations:

The renter is responsible for all tolls, citations, parking tickets, impound charges, traffic violations, penalties, and administrative fees arising during the rental period or related to the renter's use, possession, towing, or failure to return the trailer.

13) GPS and Tracking:

The trailer may be equipped with GPS, telematics, or tracking technology.

This technology may be used to locate, recover, protect, and manage the trailer.

The renter may not remove, disable, block, damage, or tamper with any tracking device.
