Rental terms & requirements

This is a plain-language summary of the main responsibilities that apply when renting a JH trailer.

25 or older, with a valid license

ID is verified during booking. Read the full rental agreement before accepting your rental.

Book before taking a trailer

A parked trailer may be reserved. Complete payment and ID verification during booking. At your booked time, use your confirmation link to finish the agreement and pickup steps, including insurance and trailer photos. Wait for your lockbox code before unlocking or moving the trailer.

Insurance and responsibility

Maintain legally required liability insurance. Ask your insurer about trailer and cargo coverage; JH offers no damage waiver or cargo policy. You’re responsible for damage, loss, and theft during the rental. Charges are documented and itemized; ordinary wear and preexisting damage are not charged.

Check your tow setup

Your vehicle and hitch must be rated for the trailer plus your load. Bring compatible wiring, a brake controller when required, and suitable securement equipment. Utility: 2-inch ball, flat 4-way plug, no trailer brakes. Enclosed, car hauler, and dump: 2 5/16-inch ball and round 7-pin plug. Confirm the utility trailer’s cargo limit with Joel. Maximum cargo: enclosed 4,800 lb; car hauler 10,580 lb; dump 10,900 lb. The dump’s 15,400 lb GVWR includes its own weight.

Dump trailer materials

No asphalt, concrete rubble, wet concrete, or loose cement, including mixed loads containing them. No hazardous waste, asbestos-containing material, or contaminated soil. Brush, mulch, lumber, and ordinary nonhazardous cleanout debris are welcome within the trailer and tow vehicle’s limits. Cement or concrete mix in sealed, intact bags is allowed if secured and kept sealed.

Heavy dump loads

Dirt, soil, sand, gravel, rock, and other unusually heavy loads need my approval by text or email before you book. Send the material, estimated quantity and weight, and tow-vehicle details so we can agree on a load limit. Keep bulk material at or below the 24-inch sides, spread it evenly, and tarp loose loads. The 10,900 lb payload is the upper limit; your truck, hitch, or approved load limit may allow less. Bed fullness and photos do not prove weight. Keep a supplier’s weight record for purchased bulk material; use a scale if the actual weight is uncertain before road travel.

Inspect before towing

Check the trailer, hitch, tires, lights, brakes where fitted, and included gear. Upload the requested pickup photos and report damage or unsafe conditions before leaving. Do not overload, carry passengers, or use an unapproved driver.

Finish the return

Return on time to the same space, empty, clean, and secured. Return the keys and upload the required photos through your booking link. Tap Complete Return before leaving. The rental ends after physical return and completed photo submission; JH’s later inspection does not extend it.

Extensions and additional charges

Ask for an extension before your deadline. Unapproved extra time is charged at the accepted daily rate. Damage amounts properly owed are due upon receipt of an itemized written demand; card charges follow the agreement and applicable payment rules. Any deposit or hold is disclosed at checkout.

Damage, breakdown, or theft

Notify JH immediately. Contact police when required or for theft, injury, or third-party damage. Do not authorize repairs or towing without approval except to prevent immediate harm. You are responsible for tolls and tickets; do not tamper with trailer GPS or tracking equipment.
